What’s in a name ?

Shakespeare once wrote,

“What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;”

What does this mean? He is trying to say even if a rose was called a daisy or a sunflower it would srill smell beautiful.

So what about ‘swine flu’ ? There was a story today in the news talking about some people wanting to change the name of the disease to ‘Mexcian Flu’ or its medical name of H1N1 flu.  Do you think that names and labels are important? What do you think it should be called? Have you been affected by this illness?

very true and fascinating lines picked from the great legend shakespear, but i think the context in which it has been used here is little hazy…W H O has decided to change the name of ‘swine flu’ to its scientific name H1N1 INFLUENZA of because of that name, pigs no longer serve as “food” in the eyes of some people and instead are viewed as “health killers.” Many people have stopped eating pork, several countries have started to ban imports of the meat from Mexico and the United States, and authorities in Egypt ordered the slaughter of about 3,000 pigs. To ease pressure from the pork industry, however, the World Health Organization announced that it would begin referring to the “swine flu” virus as “influenza A/H1N1.” but now the big question is that “Will the elimination of “swine” from the name of the virus help ease people’s fear of the meat?”…i don’t know that will this question be answered soon or the confusion on this will continue as bush-fire.
